Michael Jordan 1993 Playoffs: Gm 4 Vs. NY Knicks, 54pts.

Uploaded by: hoopsencyclopedia
Video Description:
This was a scary performance by MJ. With an injured shooting wrist, MJ was coming off one of his worst shooting games ever in game 3 - going just 3-18 for 22 (but with a near triple double with 8 rebs and 11 asts). With the media on him, MJ produced 54pts but the scary part was how he was able to shoot 60% on call. Of course, we saw this happen over and over hundreds of times throughout his whole career but it still never ceased to amaze. This was what MJ was all about - playing in a zone. But the scary part was how he was able to turn it on at will and do it all the time. This performance was just another notch in his legendary masterpieces and it was a badly needed one as the Bulls were threatened on their march to their first 3-peat by the powerful Knicks.
With the bruiser NY team winning the first two games, MJ made sure game 4 was theirs by shooting deep jumpers over Starks. Going 6-9 in treys and 18-30 overall, he had a 'quiet' 54. Of course, it's always more fun seeing the dunks and drives but on fundamentals alone, MJ was still his spectacular self and of course, his efficiency guaranteed the only thing that really mattered: victory. As usual, on national TV, when everyone was watching how he might rebound off a bad game, with a knob on his injured wrist, MJ played - just like MJ.

It's not everyone it's some media and Kobe fans, (likely under the age of 12) who have never seen Jordan play before.
You are right though that Jordan is the best of a ll time.

I feel todays players are good and have evolved over time along with the game of basketball. But the game back then was life to a true fan. You have even knicks fan on here saying that MJ was the greatest. I feel the game would be nowhere today without MJ making it what it is. Players today, even though some don't like to admitt it, idol their game after this man. He made basketball what it is. thanks hoops for the memories...

I dare someone with a straight face to compare Lebron or Kobe to THIS guy! Look, that is in no way meant as disrespect to either guy but MJ is on a completely different level then everyone else. The best and worst thing that ever happened to the NBA because when he was there EVERYONE watched and now that he is gone noone except for extreme fans care anymore....I miss watching MJ like you would not believe....

Eat it Greg Anthony. You should remain on some local, unwatchable NBA analysis show at midnight, because that's all you can do. You could never play basketball, and to say MJ was overrated just proves you should get your ass off the court. You missed all the gamewinners you shot. You've never helped an organization do anything, ever, and never will. Please, just because you played decent in college doesn't mean you're automatically a star in the NBA. Seriously?

In my opinion, this game shows Michael Jordan in his very prime. There are very few players , if any, that could match this type of intensity, skills, and athletetism on the basketball court
See I hear a ... ( 3 weeks ago by ChaosCat79)
See I hear a criticism of Jordan's 6 Finals victories that really doesn't make much sense. That the only reasons he won so much was because of the great teams of the 80's breaking up, and that all the expansion teams that came in during the late '80's (Charlotte Hornets, Minnesota T-Wolves, Miami Heat) watered down the league and made it much 'easier' for him to dominate.
Yet one thing I ... ( 3 weeks ago by ChaosCat79)
Yet one thing I never hear these critics *Ahem*MerkinMuffly*Ahem* mention, that for instance, during the 92-93 regular season the Bulls were not only NOT the best team in the league (Barkley's Suns finished with a 62-20 season), but weren't even the best team in the EAST! (The Knicks finished ahead of Chicago with a 60-22 season to the Bulls 57-25 record)
And not only that, but the Bulls LOST the first TWO GAMES of the conference finals against the Knicks!
So, were the Knicks ... ( 3 weeks ago by ChaosCat79)
So, were the Knicks just handing the Bulls a route through to the NBA Finals huh?
I don't think so!
And none of the teams the Bulls faced during the Finals were 'weak' or 'watered down' either. Apart from the 90-91 LA Lakers (who were 58-24 and finished ranked 3rd in the West)ALL of them were the #1 teams in the Western Conference during those seasons AND had 60+ wins as well!
the only people ... ( 2 weeks ago by YoungTon22)
the only people that compare players to jordan are fans. kobe and lebron will tell you that mj is the greatest basketball player ever. so the debate has no purpose
Give him any space ... ( 2 weeks ago by palpatine55)
Give him any space and he's scorch the cords from downtown. Crowd him, and he was by you before you even knew what hit you. If you were a great defender and could even stay with him, he'd post you up, then turn and fade and scorch the net.
Kobe has these moves but to a MUCH lesser extent. Youngton22 is right, there really isn't even a debate. Kobe's career average is about 25 ppg and he's 30. MJ's career average at 30 was 33 ppg. End of fucking story, MJ GOAT and IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Let me add, though ... ( 1 week ago by ChaosCat79)
Let me add, though the LA Lakers were 58-24 during the 90-91 season, they BEAT the 63 win Portland Trailblazers, the best team in the West and looking to get into the Finals for a second straight season.
And at the age of ... ( 1 week ago by ChaosCat79)
And at the age of 30, Jordan had won 3 NBA titles, the same number as Kobe has. BIG difference of course is that with those titles, Jordan also snaffled the Finals MVP award for all of them too!
The last two NBA Finals Kobe has been in, he hasn't even been CLOSE to being the best player on the court. :)

Poor John Starks.
He works his ass off through 4 colleges in 4 years, working in a supermarket, the CBA, pays his dues to finally be a starter and get deep in the playoffs.
He's rewarded by having the assignment of guarding Michael Jordan.

this wasn't a game seven but the series went 7 games. And MJ was in it all the way to the end of this very physical series.
