Marichal pitched the greatest game I ever saw in person(and I was at Millwood's no-hitter)-and he lost.
It was a warm weekday night at Shea Stadium in 1969.Marichal was magnificent!The Mets were off stride all night,getting a weak hits.
Then in the bottom of the 14th in a 0-0 tie,Juan got one up and Tommie Agee hit it out.This was the second time in his career he had dueled scoreless deep into extra innings,the first time he beat Warren Spahn and the Braves in 16 innings on a Mays homer.

Loved that high kick Marichal had. He also won 20 or more games 6 out 7 seasons (preceded by an 18-11 year)...not too shabby. When Sandy Koufax retired at 30, he had three 20 win seasons; meanwhile by 30, Marichal had five 20 win seasons. Btw, I'm not taking anything away from Koufax- he was great. (I just think there was a little subtle racism going on...JMHO).
