It's very possible that a few of the bigger, quicker, stronger and slicker could have beat Rocky on cuts or outpoint him with the boring jab & grab style adopted by so many fighters of today. That would be much more possible in today's era of giant hw's and 12 round title fights too. That said, if Rocky could force the other guy to a blood & guts fight he would have a serious shot at ANYONE....EVER! When both guys had to dig deep "THE ROCK" always had the biggest shovel and biggest heart.

Rocky was perhaps the most courageous fighter I've seen in the ring. The only guys I've seen in recent times with comparable determination were Holyfield, Foreman (in his second career), Joe Calzaghe....maybe a few more but it's very rare. Ali & Frazier both showed great courage in the 70's too.
Still....I don't think any of those guys were quite as resilliant as Marciano. He was a helluva fighter, a gentleman, and a great role model. One of my heroes for sure!

Well.....BenRichards87, I don't think Calzaghe's a pussy at all. No pussy even gets in the ring. He not only gets up after knockdowns, he presses the fight in the very same round he's hurt in. There are many hall-of-famers that don't do that. No active fighter thinks of him as a pussy, not even Hopkins who is hoping for a rematch and is talking trash to get it. We all have our favorites so let's agree to disagree on Calzaghe. I'd rather salute my heroes than insult those who aren't. RIP Rocky.

Yeah, Rocky is a hard act to follow. He was proof that fighters don't have to be assholes and bullies to acheive the necessary aggression to compete. His role model was Joe Louis who was also a class act and the greatest of champions.
